Do-It-Yourself Calculation

In just a few steps you should be able work out the cost for your granite countertops.

  • Material selection
  • Square footage calculation (total square footage required)
  • Edge profile selection
  • Linear footage calculation (edge work required)

Note:
All of the dollar amounts used in our Website or from our quotations are in U.S. dollars

1. Materials selection

We categorized our granite materials into three convenient color groups, group 1, group 2 and group 3.

The unit price for each group, i.e. price per square foot ($/SF), is listed in the table:

  group 1
materials
group 2
materials
group 3
materials
$/SF $38 $43 $48

2. Square footage required

Now based on the plan or layout that you have for your house, you can calculate total square footage required.

The material component of the cost (MC) = total square footage x $/SF

3. Edge profile selection

For simplicity, we also divide our edge profiles into three groups.

The unit price for each group, i.e. price per linear foot ($/LF), is listed in the table:

  Group 1 Group 2 Group 3
Edge profile straight edge
1/4" round edge
1/4" bevel edge
half bullnose edge
full bullnose edge
1/2" bevel edge
Slant edge
Ogee edge
waterfall edge
insert edge
$/LF $25 $29 $38

3. Linear footage required

Now based on the plan or layout that you have for your house, you should be able to calculate total linear footage required. Remember all exposed edges need to be finished, and therefore should be counted in your linear footage calculation.

The labor component of the cost (LC) = total linear footage x $/LF

The total FOB price of your granite countertops = MC + LC
There will be 7% G.S.T. charges for Canadian customers only.

4. Shipping and handling

We charge 3% of the total cost for packing

Shipping cost varies depending on destination.

The following is a guideline, based on which you should be able to work out a "ball park" figure.

  • Shipping companies normally charge $20 to $40 per 100 lb;
  • Granite countertops weight about 13 to 15 lb per square foot.

You can arrange a shipping company at your location to pick up the countertops from us, or we can arrange a company on your behalf. In either case we strongly recommend you to purchase additional insurance to cover potential damage during transportation.
